According to the angle, the Metal gloss meter is divided into three types: 20° high gloss meter, 60° medium gloss meter and 85° low gloss meter. The reference standards of glossmeters at different angles are different.

 Each glossmeter is set by the manufacturer to be linear over the entire measurement range, in order to maintain the performance and linearity of the Metal gloss meter, it is recommended to use a check standard tile. This standard tile assigns glossy unit values ​​to each measurement angle, which are also traceable to national standards such as the BAM Federal Institute for Materials Research or NIST. The instrument is calibrated against inspection standards commonly referred to as "calibration sheets" or "calibration standards." The interval for checking the calibration depends on the frequency of use and the operating conditions of the glossmeter.
